Overview of ProTen

ProTen is the leading broiler chicken farm developer and operator in Australia.  ProTen owns and operates a total of 561 poultry sheds across 47 broiler farms strategically located in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland. 

ProTen's existing Farms have the capacity to produce up to 133 million broiler chickens per year.  This represents approximately 19% of Australia's annual broiler chicken production. 

ProTen's aim is to be the market leader in the design, construction, and operation of broiler chicken farms in Australia.  ProTen attributes a great deal of its past success to the adoption and implementation of a continuous improvement culture that encourages employees and other stakeholders to share new ideas and improved practices.

Our Beginnings

ProTen started with one man and one shed in Halcombe, New Zealand in 1987 - Max Bryant. Starting in 1995 Max was the principal behind the establishment of a number of  additional farms in New Zealand.

ProTen was formed in 2001 with the amalgamation of seven of these farms.

Max Bryant established first growing shed in NZ with 23,000 bird capacity.
1995-2001
Regional NZ farm construction - supply to Tegel New Zealand.
2001
ProTen Ltd established to consolidate broiler farms.
2002
ProTen entered Australia.
2002-2006
Farms in NZ divested and capital redeployed in Australia.
2008
Company migrated to Australia and listed shares on the NZ "Unlisted" market.
2009-2018
ProTen triples in size via organic growth.
2018
ProTen acquires a 32-shed farm in South Australia.
2019
ProTen acquires a 28-shed farm in South Australia.
2019
ProTen acquires the RFM Poultry business in NSW and Victoria.
2020
ProTen acquires the HHG Group Poultry business in Victoria.
2020
ProTen acquires land in Mt Barker WA to build lease a 3 X 6 shed free-range poultry that will be leased out on a long-term contract with Mt Barker Poultry.
2021
ProTen acquires Western Riverlands Poultry business in Western Australia
2021
ProTen acquires land in Adare QLD to build and operate 2 X 6 shed Poultry Farms ready for operations from later in the year
2021
ProTen acquires a 17 shed breeder farm near Ipswich in QLD and leased out on a long-term contract with Baiada Poultry
2021
ProTen had acquired land in Rushes Creek to build and operate 4 farms with a total of 54 shed Poultry Farm, development commenced on stage 1 to build 18 sheds ready for operation in 2022
2021
ProTen acquires a vacant block of land in Kiri Park WA to build 8 conventional and 6 free-range sheds, development commenced and sheds will be ready for operations from the 2nd half of 2022
